Mission Statement & Philosophy

St. James Catholic School is a Dominican elementary school serving the San Francisco Bay Area. As a member of the Alliance of Mission District Catholic Schools and San Francisco Archdiocese, our faculty works closely with neighboring Archdiocesan schools in a professional learning community. St. James, a Vision of Hope school, shares a strong connection to the Charism of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. Graduates rise to uphold our four Dominican Pillars of Prayer, Study, Service, and Community.

Inspired by Jesus and His teachings, we accept the responsibility to help develop the gifts and talents of students, parents, and staff alike. We acknowledge that parents are the primary educators of our students, and we strive to work collaboratively to ensure success of all students. We challenge our students to recognize their gifts and guide them to be people of action.

As leaders of our faith community, the faculty instills a strong sense of Catholic, Christian values in an atmosphere of inclusion and empathy. Students are empowered to be advocates in their learning. Students learn to ask profound questions and seek out meaningful answers. We champion students to reach their full potential by fostering the development of the whole child, enabling students to grow as positive contributing members of the Church and society.
